Hello! I’m a public policy and governance leader with more than 30 years of experience serving at the federal, state, and local levels—both as a senior staffer and as an elected leader. My career has focused on strengthening public institutions, building durable solutions, and helping leaders translate complex policy challenges into practical results for the communities they serve.

Through On Key Strategies, I advise leaders across nonprofit, philanthropic, association, business, and government sectors who are navigating complex political environments and high-stakes decisions. Most engage me as a strategic thought partner—someone who brings steady judgment, practical experience, and a clear path forward when the work feels uncertain.

What sets me apart is my ability to work across sectors and differences—building trust, aligning stakeholders, and turning ideas into action.

Early in my career, I held senior leadership roles on Capitol Hill, including as a Chief of Staff. That experience gave me a front-row seat to how federal decisions are shaped—and how much trust, timing, and relationships matter when the stakes are high.

​

I later served in both chambers of the Ohio General Assembly—the Ohio House of Representatives and the Ohio Senate—becoming the first woman in my party to serve on majority leadership teams in both chambers. Those years reinforced something I still believe: policy only moves when people can understand it, support it, and sustain it.

Along the way, I also led from outside government. As a nonprofit CEO, I helped build and strengthen a statewide policy and advocacy organization—growing its influence, developing high-performing teams, and working with leaders across sectors to advance public priorities.

I’ve also spent the last decade in local government as a county commissioner, responsible for budgets, operations, and essential public systems serving more than 250,000 residents. Local government has a way of keeping strategy grounded. It’s where policy meets implementation—and where decisions show up in people’s daily lives.
